Pilot car and escort requirements

  • Front projection over 3 m on all highways: 1 escort.
  • Length 31-41 m on undivided highways: 1 escort.
  • Length over 41 m on undivided highways in daylight: 2 escorts.
  • Rear overhang 6.5-9 m on all highways: 1 escort.
  • Rear overhang over 9 m on all highways in daylight: 2 escorts.
  • Width 3.7-4.6 m on undivided highways in daylight: 1 escort.
  • Width 3.7-4.6 m on undivided highways at night: 2 escorts.
  • Width 3.7-4.6 m on divided highways at night: 1 escort.
  • Width over 3.7 m on all highways: 1 escort (police).
  • Width over 4.6 m on all highways at night: no travel permitted.
  • Width 4.6-6.1 m on divided highways in daylight: 1 escort.
  • Width 4.6-6.1 m on undivided highways in daylight: 2 escorts.
  • Width over 6.1 m on all highways in daylight: 2 escorts.
