The Canadian Heavy Haul Rate Index tracks what shippers actually pay to move heavy equipment in Canada, based on hauls booked on Trusted Dispatch. Current rate (July to September 2026): a median of CA$4.03 per kilometre (about US$4.55 per mile), higher than CA$3.19 per kilometre in April to June. A quarter of data is a small sample, so next month’s report will show whether the higher level holds.

What this means for shippers
Trip length moves the price per kilometre more than anything else. Short trips cost more per kilometre because minimum charges dominate.
