Rates rose in July to September

Hauls booked on Trusted Dispatch from July to September 2026 paid a median of CA$4.03 per kilometre (about US$4.55 per mile), up from CA$3.19 in April to June. A quarter of data is a small sample, so next month’s report will show whether the higher level holds.

By trip length

Trip length moves the price per kilometre more than anything else. Short trips cost more per kilometre because loading and minimum charges are fixed costs.

What moved, what didn’t

  • The third quarter carried more short moves than the second, and short moves cost more per kilometre.
  • Long hauls over 1,000 km (621 mi) also paid more per kilometre than in the spring.
  • Oversize loads still add permits (roughly CA$50 to CA$300 or more per provincial permit, about US$35 to US$210) and pilot cars (roughly CA$100 to CA$250 per escort, about US$70 to US$175) on top of line-haul rates.
